Publicis Group had suspended all of their field marketing activities such as trade shows participation and award show submissions for the next 12 months. This is in order to save a few bucks (I guess more than a few) to evolve their new AI/Machine Learning cross-organization platform: Marcel.
Marcel seems to work as a recommendations platform, connecting between ideas, employees, projects, and research results to entice excellence. Sounds great when you have 80k employees spread across the globe.
However, cut down all activities to build that? Hope they thought it through and will come out winners from the other end. The idea sounds techy and buzzy at first, but to actually deliver this project and implement at scale – a huge challenge.
